Churches together in Retford  ANNUAL REPORT 2018

This is a committee of people representing local churches in the Retford area to discuss and support the Ministry of the churches and find different ways of engaging with the community.  Currently the committee is chaired by Jon Ginever from The Bridge Church and there are four meetings per year.

In February the committee welcomed the Development Worker from Transforming Notts Together who gave a presentation about how churches can do more to support people in the community.  In  March the committee was involved in the organisation of the Jeff Lucas Tour, a theatre performance of ‘There are No Ordinary people’. It is also involved in the Christian Heritage events.

Often meetings include updates about concerns relating to local homelessness and rough sleeping and how support is given; the work of the Bassetlaw Food Bank and The Bridge Church’s ‘Eat Lunch Project’

Throughout the year the committee discusses and helps to organise annual events attended by members of the local community such as The Town Carol Service, The Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, services in local residential homes, School Time Travelling at St Swithun’s Church and Holocaust Memorial Day.
