The ecumenical grouping of churches in Retford comprises:
(Retford Team comprises St Michael's, St Saviour's and St Swithun's churches. The website seems to work with Explorer but not with Mozilla Firefox.)
CHRISTIANS TOGETHER IN RETFORD 2008 REPORTThe Committee has very strong representation from all the Churches in Retford. New ideas for the Week of Prayer for Christian unity were: 1. A faith supper and fellowship at St Saviour’s Hall instead of the folk dancing. Super food and drink was enjoyed and an opportunity to get to know others from the churches. 2. The Theme for the Service was “Hope 08”. This is an inter-denominational project for mission in our communities. A good mix of hymns, old and new. Information as to the contacts we have with the elderly. A short film about “Christians in Action”. The Baptist Church is a centre for counselling for those who are in debt and in despair. The talk by the Chairman, Richard Warren, was to encourage us in faith, to be the hands and feet for Jesus and look for ways we could help those who are vulnerable in our town of Retford. 3. The prayer evening at New Life encouraged prayers for all ages and local projects in the town. The North Notts Schools Workers’ Trust is employing two part-time workers for the local schools. Adam Boyes for Retford Oaks and family schools; and Liz Styles for the Elizabethan School and family schools and the surrounding areas. They are to support children in assemblies, clubs, PSHE/RE lessons and pupil support. No Market Square service this summer but a decision to support 3 services: · Easter Evening – 23 March at St Saviour’s · 29 June evening at the New Life · 23 November at the Baptist Church. This year the CTiR book will have a new cover for “Hope 08” and details of where the churches are already helping in the community. CTiR have volunteered to provide stewards for Charter Day in May. CTiR are buying banners for “Hope 08” for each church to display. Pauline Partridge CHRISTIANS TOGETHER IN RETFORD Annual Report 2007Since Sue Whorton’s departure there has been no regular participation in CTIR by Ordsall Parish. However at the PCC meeting in March 2007 Pauline Partridge and Joan Henderson were elected representatives and we hope to re-engage fully with local ecumenical activities.
