The A1 runs almost past our doorstep.

There are excellent north-south rail links (the East Coast Line - National Express & Hull Trains) and good local east-west links (Lincoln to Sheffield and beyond - Northern Rail).  Rail station details.

The Food Initiative Group is Your guide to fresh, locally produced food and drink from Nottinghamshire  with Notts nosh has local food producers, including Thaymar ice cream (has a good tea room), Mellors prize winning farm butchery, and Goachers fruit and fruit products.  

Farmers markets are on the 3rd Saturday of the month in Retford from 9.00am

It's time to make a visit to the famous Hodsock Snowdrops and see what they have been doing.

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust have a number of local reserves including Eaton, Treswell, and Gamston Woods, West Burton Meadow, and the Daneshill Lakes (with fishing).  

Wetlands Waterfowl Reserve (also with fishing) at Sutton cum Lound

Bassetlaw Museum -includes thousands of local photographs from the Welchman Archive.
The Chesterfield Canal runs through the town.  The canal is steadily being restored by the Chesterfield Canal Trust - try their virtual tour, and check out Retford's marina.

The Text This Week has a very wide range of resources, worship links, art, and bible studies all linked to the readings set in the lectionary for the week.  It won't save the busy preacher any time, it's too interesting, but it might help encourage richer sermons.
